Smaller Can Be Better...

Summer is when we crave going on vacation the most! The majority of vacationers head to water – whether it's a beach with an ocean view or a mountain with a lake view – we go there by plane, train, and automobile. For those who have a little piece of vacation in their yards, they don't have to leave the comforts of home to get the benefits of sitting by a watery haven. Perhaps you don't have a pond yet because you feel like your space is too small for a water feature. Well, that's not possible! Water features have come a long way in small places.

Small water features are all the rage! They fit nicely in small corners of the patio, by the front door, or even inside (Yes! Inside!) the front door! The Pondless Waterfall is a great option for homeowners who want all the sounds and beauty of a waterfall without a pond being installed. Aquascape Inc. has also developed the AquaBasin ™ to make water features even easier to own! This amazing product allows for flexibility and ease of use and installation for almost any statuary that can bring the soothing sounds of water to your landscape. Contact us for more information!

To Feed or Not To Feed...

Recently Grist ran an article, titled Take Me to Your Seeder, which got us thinking about the great eco-system our clients already have. We believe that the right mixture of elements in your outdoor retreat lend to a healthy eco-system when it is properly planned and taken care of.

If you have had the urge to feed your feathery friends with a bird feeder, think about this - many plantings can provide plenty of nourishment (and shelter) for winged visitors without some of the negative environmental impacts of bird feeders.

Sunflowers, Coneflowers, and Black Eyed Susans are favorites as well as various trees and shrubs that bare small fruit or seeds. For more information on planting for birds, check out Wild Ones and the National Wildlife Federation.
